I'm using the official MESA/Boogie TONEX pack predominantly, trusting that the guys at Boogie who did the captures know what they're doing. I don't need to do anything to them!

This has answered my prayers! I now have one box with great-sounding captures, offering all the flexibility of using the Tone Model speakers, the VIR cab, or being able to load IRs. I can even load acoustic IRs in this!
